Kim Alling Photography was started in 2009 after 5 years of workshops, learning, practice and dedication to my personal passion, style and eye for photography.
This passion didn't just happen one day, I've always looked for that perfect picture through the camera, as far back as using my Kodak Instamatic taking pictures out the airliner window chasing the shot that would capture the feeling of flight. I've lived all of my life in Vancouver, Washington where a abundance of scenery kept my eye trained on landscape, nature and the beautiful river and oceans surrounding the area.
But the real thing I like about Portland/Vancouver area is the diversity of people and cultures, I've watched it grow over the years and enjoyed the people, cultures which makes them unique, fascinating and interesting.
Photography is about the light, the people, the nature, the moments and the art, I bring these elements together for striking photos.
My life as a photographer over the past few years have shown me how to see the world as a composition of light, people, places and things. Catching the light is as exciting as a surfer catching a giant wave.

XXXXX Kate spent her childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area where she first experienced her aptitude for photography while watching and assisting her father at work. Now located in Portland for over fifteen years, Kate's skill in capturing the region's innate and picturesque beauty lends itself to the various celebrations she photographs. Just as evident is her passion for the unique life-moments that define her clients, whether they occur at 4 a.m. in the labor and delivery room or on a candlelit evening inside a 19th century church. Kate's enthusiasm and talent for capturing life on film is defined in the artistry her work renders. Kate holds a double degree in Arts and Theology
